The Andres Soriano Foundation marks its 40th year against the backdrop of an economic downturn of global proportions. Although the crisis originated in the West and its dire consequences have been publicized most graphically in the case of its banking and automotive sectors, developing countries like the Philippines have not been spared, and rural communities face the prospect of even more trying times.
In such a milieu, corporate entities might understandably feel a diminished capacity to respond to the needs of marginalized sectors who aspire to a better life.
We are therefore all the more heartened by the fact that our many donors, institutional partners and proponents continue to contribute steadfastly and selflessly to our programs, and we are deeply grateful to know that the Andres Soriano Foundation remains a credible and trusted conduit of their generosity.
